Pottery Barn Kids vs Everly & Monet Designs
Today I wanted to compare & contrast some of the Brands I carry at Everly & Monet in contrast to Pottery Barn. Now don’t get me wrong—I love the beautiful Pottery Barn catalog and walking through a beautiful Pottery Barn store. However, I think that you should always consider your options before letting Pottery Barn be your default. There are so many amazing companies making products that are just as lovely and interesting that provide great quality. As a boutique design studio, people always assume we are VERY EXPENSIVE and they are getting a bargain at Pottery Barn. You may be surprised to know that even with the 20% omnipresent sale, our prices aren’t that different. And many of my lines are made in America like Newport Cottages or Canada like Nest. We also represent brands like Million Dollar Baby, Babyletto or Franklin & Ben that are made overseas, yet are high quality.
If there’s one thing about Dana and Everly & Monet, it’s Options, Opportunities and Possibilities. I like to give you a wealth of colors, fabrics and wood textures to choose from. I believe in not being “cookie cutter” but rather, getting what you want. Although there is so much on the web, you may not realize all the manufacturers out there or even all the options that are offered. The web unfortunately can be limiting in that way. For new parents out there trying to figure out what to purchase for their little ones, I try to show them what is out there & keeping it simple so you can make the best decision.
Their High-End Look, My High-End Look
Now we all love a High-End rich look. I contrast Newport Cottage to Pottery Barn. They both have a Hollywood Regency look. Yet, Newport Cottages gives you 20+ different wood choices and you can pick any fabric you like for upholstery. Their furniture is bench-made by hand here in America with solid wood & custom details. And your choice of different hardware. This is why the price is higher, but well worth the investment.
Their Rustic Look, My Rustic Look
Who doesn't love the washed wood look happening right now? Seeing the grain in the wood really highlights the quality & finish. Be it in Grey or a more natural Sand finish, this works great for boys or girls. I contrast Nest Juvenile to Pottery Barn. Nest is under the Natart Brand, made in Canada of solid Oak wood. I am always so surprised at how the prices are so comparable.
Their Drawer Construction, My Drawer Construction
Its all about the drawers. I always tell clients to invest in the Dresser. This dresser should last & grow with the child & their clothes. I contrast Newport Cottages drawers to Pottery Barn here. I love how Newport Cottages drawer comes completely out of the case for incredible access. The drawers are deep & wide. Most dressers are 19"-20" in depth. They also are on full extension metal glides. So durable. Many other dressers are on wood glides and don't pull fully out of the case.
Their Bargain Deals, My Bargain Deals
One thing Pottery Barn does so well is show lovely simple designs without too much fuss for great prices. I contrast them to Million Dollar Baby and Franklin & Ben. They give similar looks at great prices.
Their Gliders, My Gliders
The glider is still my favorite thing in the nursery. I have spent way too many nights rocking in them. So finding a great chair is important. I contrast Pottery Barn Classic & Modern gliders to Four Seasons & Babyletto. Four Seasons offers a slipcover or fully upholstered glider made in North Carolina with down & contrast welt standard. It is a super comfy chair. The Babyletto new Kiwi motorized recliner comes in two different fabrics for the world’s best price. It's a perfect choice for a family on a budget.
